Class Feedback

In class today, each group received a sheet to write feedback for every other group based on their current work. We had to write what we thought was effective and what could be improved (both for the Digi Pack and the video itself). The feedback Cam and I had for our two drafts of Digi Pack photos and the montage of shots video we made was very helpful as we know what aspects we could change in order to attract more audience. We also know what is good about our work and whether the material we have is appropriate to the song we chose.

Our Feedback;

Group1:

Strengths
(Digi Pack)
- HD quality makes it professional
- Water dripping down the girl's face looks very precise
(The Video)
-The transitions between the shots mix well
- Dark lighting creates effective dark mood

Improvements
(Digi Pack)
- Add subtle text to the shots
(The Video)
- Edit the lip syncing so it's more in time to the song lyrics

Group 2:

Strengths
(Digi Pack)
- Water looks effective
- Matches the video clearly
(The Video)
- It compliments the song well
- Very gloomy and powerful which attracts the eye
- Good use of performance and narrative together

Improvements
(Digi Pack)
- Make it obvious that the performer is involved
(The Video)
- Don't stay too long on one scene, repetitive

Group 3:

Strengths
(Digi Pack)
- Captured in the moment, strong image as it's in HD
- Drops of water frozen in time
(The Video)
- Lighting and smoke helped create a very dark atmosphere
- Lip syncing was accurate
- Use of close ups established characters as being unstable
- Editing was done on the beat making the video flow

Improvements
(Digi Pack)
- Add in font
(The Video)
- Possibly a few more angles of the girl in the bath to show different sides of her personality
- Shots of the sink and bath to establish location

File Organisation

As we have filmed one scene with our Narrative actor (Ania) and the only footage we need for the performer (Harvey) we have arranged the shots in a format that enables us to view and choose particular shots based on the position of the camera and the actor. For example, mid shot standing or close up in bath. This makes our editing more efficient and less time consuming as we won't have to search through every shot to find the one we are looking for. As well as this, in order for the footage to not be lost, we have backed it up onto three different places; 2 hard drives and one drive. This means that if we have technical difficulties we will be able to re-obtain our footage instantly, instead of having to re-shoot.

Questionnaire - Audience Research 2

Cam and I have created a questionnaire in which we can gain relevant information based on our audience's perspectives on both music videos and digi packs. Based on the results, we will find out how popular our creations will be and what type of design is preferred by our audience.

Montage of Performance & Scene 2 Narrative

Cam and I put together a few shots we accumulated over the two days we have filmed for. As these are only a selection of footage we have, we thought we should compose a video in which we can see how effective they would look together along with the lyrics. We will then show this video to audience members in order to receive feedback on our shots so far! There are still things we know to improve on with this video, such as timing the lyrics more efficiently with the performer to enhance the realism that he is singing the song. Also, things in the background that are picked up by the camera will need to be blacked out in the editing process.
